Land Around Downton

The vision for Land at Downton transforms a 410ha site into a landscape-driven garden community delivering up to 2,500+ new homes alongside the infrastructure needed to support a thriving, sustainable place. Set between the New Forest, the coast and the existing settlements of New Milton, Hordle, Everton and Milford-on-Sea, the masterplan responds to its sensitive environmental and cultural setting by placing landscape, green infrastructure and ecological networks at the heart of the design.

A vibrant mixed-use local centre, primary and secondary schools, commercial and employment uses, community facilities and extensive public open space are woven together through a network of walkable neighbourhoods, a new 152ha country and coastal park and green corridors linking people with nature, including a new 2 mile central linear park linking Hordle to the coast. The vision promotes active travel, low-carbon living and long-term stewardship, creating a distinctive new community that is resilient, connected and designed to endure for generations.
